Senior Superintendent
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to lead on-site construction operations for institutional and commercial projects, with a focus on K12 schools, higher education facilities, and office buildings. The Senior Superintendent will be responsible for managing daily field activities, ensuring schedule and quality targets are met, maintaining safety and compliance, and coordinating with owners, architects, subcontractors, and project teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily field operations across multiple projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Lead and mentor superintendent and foreman teams; assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide performance feedback.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and on-site trades to optimize sequencing and productivity.
  • Enforce company and client safety programs, conduct site safety meetings, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and project engineers to update schedules, manage change orders, and mitigate risks to the project timeline and budget.
  • Serve as primary on-site liaison with owners, educational administrators, facilities staff, architects, and inspectors, maintaining strong client relationships and clear communication.
  • Review and verify daily reports, labor logs, productivity metrics, and site documentation to support project controls and reporting.
  • Ensure quality control by performing inspections, resolving field issues, and coordinating punch lists and turnover activities.
  • Implement and maintain site logistics, site access, material deliveries, storage, and protection plans for occupied facilities such as schools and universities.
  • Support commissioning, start-up, and closeout processes, including training owner staff and compiling as-built documentation and O&M manuals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial construction experience with at least 4 years in a superintendent or senior superintendent role.
  • Proven project experience in K12 school construction, higher education facilities, and office building projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, ADA requirements, and occupancy considerations for education and office environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Track record of managing multiple projects and coordinating large trade packages in occupied and phased construction settings.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills; ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including school administrators and facility managers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of jobsite safety and OSHA regulations; safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30) preferred.
  • Proficient with project management and field reporting tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, BIM viewers) and Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Willingness to travel between job sites and work flexible hours as project needs dictate.
