Industrial Mechanic & Welder Position Description

Grand Industrial is seeking a skilled and motivated Industrial Mechanic & Welder with experience in industrial equipment repair, mechanical maintenance, welding, and machinery installation. This position focuses heavily on servicing, repairing, troubleshooting, relocating, and modifying industrial equipment in manufacturing, processing, and construction environments.

This role combines industrial mechanical work with hands-on welding and fabrication. Candidates will regularly repair equipment, replace components, install machinery, perform mechanical troubleshooting, and weld equipment or structural components during repairs, modifications, and equipment relocations.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with industrial machinery, conveyors, motors, bearings, hydraulics, pumps, gearboxes, and other mechanical systems. Strong welding and fabrication skills are highly preferred. This position requires someone who can work safely, solve problems independently, and perform quality work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs, maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing on industrial equipment and machinery. 
• Disassemble, relocate, reassemble, and install industrial machinery and production equipment. 
• Weld equipment, supports, brackets, structural components, piping, guards, and machinery modifications as needed. 
• Repair or reinforce machinery and equipment through welding and fabrication during maintenance or relocation projects. 
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings, and engineering specifications. 
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues with minimal supervision. 
• Work with conveyors, motors, hydraulics, pumps, bearings, belt systems, gearboxes, and other industrial mechanical systems. 
• Grind, cut, fit, and fabricate metal components as required for repairs or installations. 
• Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, torches, grinders, and measuring tools safely and efficiently. 
• Assist with rigging, lifting, positioning, anchoring, and aligning industrial equipment. 
• Visit and work at various industrial and construction job sites. 
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. 

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification. 
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, millwright work, welding, fabrication, or similar industrial work. 
• Strong understanding of industrial machinery and mechanical systems. 
• Experience with welding and fabrication in industrial environments preferred. 
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. 
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
• Good communication and teamwork skills. 
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. 
• Must work safely at all times. 
• Ability to pass a DOT physical to operate equipment if required. 
• Weekend work may be required. 
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
