D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Government Affairs & Community Relations Manager. The right candidate is responsible for monitoring and managing government affairs that could impact home building projects and foster positive community relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitor and influence legislation, policies, and regulations that impact land development and home building projects
- Conduct research on relevant policies, trends, and political dynamics that may affect the company’s operations and provide strategic recommendations
- Represent the company at public meetings, hearings, and other forums to advocate for project approvals and promote the company’s interests
- Monitor proposed legislation that could impact the division’s goals, budgets and business plan
- Foster an environment of collaboration and community engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, regulatory agencies, planning commissions, and other key stakeholders
- Work closely with the development team to navigate zoning laws, permitting processes, and environmental regulations
- Collaborate with industry associations, business groups, and community organizations to align on key policy issues and build support for the company's initiatives
- Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including land use, environmental, and housing laws
- Coordinate with all departments on government and community matters
- Prepare reports and presentations on legislative updates, regulatory changes, and the status of government relations efforts to senior management
- Ensure all employees represent D.R. Horton, Inc. and the division professionally to the public and local government offices
- Work with the management staff in developing better communications with government officials and community leaders
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Ability to attend periodic evening and weekend events/appointments (Neighborhood Board Meetings, community meetings and association functions)
- Ability to travel overnight
